Employee Self-Service (ESS) is an online platform that provides all active appointed, non-appointed and casual U of T employees with a convenient and secure way to access their personal information from work or at home.

ESS is available:

Monday to Sunday
7:00 a.m. to 1:00 AM (next day)

What You Can Access in ESS

Depending on your employee group, when you log in to ESS, you will see buttons for least one of the following areas:

  • Pay & Benefits Information
  • Personal Information
  • Vacation Information

Your ESS services depend on your employee group and may change depending on your job or appointment status. It may take up to 24 hours before changes come into effect.

What You Need to Access ESS

For security purposes, the ESS help desk requires the following information to verify your identity:

  1. Your UTORid and password
  2. The last four (4) digits of your social insurance number (SIN)
  3. Your personnel number
  4. Your date of birth

Devices & Supported Browsers

Currently, ESS is not supported on mobile devices.

ESS works best in the following four major browsers:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer
  • Safari

Pop-up blockers must be disabled.

Once you have logged into ESS, the opening view will be the new Welcome landing page. This page provides information on upcoming planned down times, help desk information, and important alerts for system users.

To get into ESS, select My HR & Equity option in the navigation menu.
